With a 5cwt weight and 7 foot travel distance, the
Malone post knocker is a machine with a high work rate, even when knocking
in posts with a high cross-sectional area. Built from heavy gauge steel,
it is both durable and reliable to use.
The post knocker utilises a sandwich plate between
the post and the weight giving it a two-fold benefit. Firstly, the top
of the posts are protected from damage by the weight, and secondly that
the plate holds the post in place whilst it is being driven into the ground.
This helps to keep the posts upright.
From a safety aspect, the weight is locked in the
upper position whilst posts are being put into position, so that if in
the unlikely event of a hydraulic pipe bursting, the weight will not come
down on top of the operator.
The mast works on a similar principle to the mast
of a fork-lift truck, which helps to keep the overall height of the machine
low, whilst giving it a simple and reliable method of operation. |
